It’s The Weekend: Quit Your Work! Start The Fun!

[ad#ad-1]
I know. Living in this concrete jungle, it’s hard for us to stop working. We need to work hard for that cheddar. We need to make ends meet. Pick your cliche. Growing up, my mother was always working. It was tough to spend time with her. When the weekend came around and it was time to have fun, mom was at work. It’s the weekend! It’s time for us to relax and get away from the dreaded J-O-B. Here are a few ways to unplug from your current employer. Seriously, I’m sure they will not miss you.

NO EMAIL. One exception. First thing in the morning. Check it once. Then make like Tony Soprano and “Forget about it.”  Stop checking your email and start checking out a new hobby, a new movie, or even that girl at the club. Email is the new electronic leash and this leash needs to be cut.

TURN OFF THE CELLY. Meet the ULTIMATE electronic leash. Get lost in something else other than the conversation you are having on your “celly celly with your homeboy lance” (Comment if you get that joke). Make plans and leave that leash behind. If work needs you, they will leave a message. Voice mail rules. The exception? If you are going to an isolated area such as diving, hiking, or hiking to a place to dive, take a phone or at least make a call to someone you love. Let them know what you are doing in the event something happens to you. If something does happen to you, they will know where you are. Other than that, put that phone away.

GET OUT OF THE HOUSE. Get away from all the distractions that your household has to offer. Get away from the phone, computer, and mother-in-law (Yes, the mother-in-law is considered work. I kid!). Even if you are one that just wants to enjoy a book. Go somewhere else and enjoy the book. Enjoy reading “Harry Potter” on the beach. Lose yourself reading “Twilight” at a park or your nearest starbucks.

These are just a few ways to stop working and have fun on the weekends. Isn’t that what the weekends are for? It’s a time where you can take a break, release, enjoy. When Monday comes around, work will come back.

Comments always welcomed! (Except on weekends! I kid!)
